Holistic Management restoring communities in Chile | View in browser

Meet Isidora.

Isidora leads Efecto Manada (which translates to "Herd Effect") โ€“ a new Savory Hub candidate based in Chile. As a strong advocate for Holistic Management, in recent months she and her colleagues have taught young farmers at the agricultural technical college, hosted a course on climate change and policy design for sustainable development, and helped to train small farmers whose land sits atop the watershed that provides drinking water for 7 million people in Santiago.

But her work hasn't just been training and workshops. With support and inspiration from other young and innovative grazers in the Savory Global Network, Isidora is bringing Holistic Planned Grazing to urban areas in Santiago - creating fire breaks on municipal lands using grazing animals as "moveable mowers".

Instead of mowing, burros and sheep graze down brush and old oxidized grasses while simultaneously improving ecosystem function and drawing down carbon into soils.

It's a win-win; clearing brush for the city in a more environmentally-friendly manner while simultaneously providing access to grazing land for a young and eager grazier.

Impact more communities.

These Stories of Impact are being brought to you as part of Savory's 30 for 100 Campaign. Every dollar of support received during the campaign goes to regenerating degraded land and reviving the farming communities who rely on a healthy grassland ecosystem.

100% of online donations go to mission-related expenses such as growing Savory's global network, creating new resources, & developing initiatives like the Land-to-Market program.
